Tianjin, May 30, 2025 - The Artificial Intelligence Council under the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Forum on Artificial Intelligence Cooperation held in Tianjin, China.

The forum brought together representatives from line ministries and agencies of SCO member states, including Belarus, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and others. During a closed-door session dedicated to sharing national AI policies and development strategies, the Tajik delegation presented key pillars of its National AI Strategy, covering areas such as education, ethical and regulatory frameworks, infrastructure, applied research, and international collaboration.

Azizjon Azimi, Chairman of the AI Council, introduced the Common AI Grid initiative - a distributed platform enabling shared access to computational resources, models, and data among SCO countries. He also proposed the development of a joint AI Self-Regulation Framework and highlighted opportunities for deeper cooperation with China through Area AI, Tajikistan’s national AI technopark, envisioned as a regional hub for talent development and applied AI solutions in Central Asia.

During the forum, the Chinese side announced the launch of the China-SCO Countries Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center and invited SCO countries to co-develop the new platform. The center aims to foster the development of joint datasets, standards, open-source models, and a “green channel” for AI sector collaboration and expert exchange programs.

AI Council expressed its readiness to actively contribute to the new initiative and emphasized the country’s unique potential as a host for sustainable digital infrastructure - with 98% of its electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

Tajikistan’s participation in the SCO AI Forum marks an important step toward strengthening regional cooperation for the ethical, sustainable, and inclusive development of artificial intelligence.
